RAD Unveils Combo TDM and Ethernet EFM Network Termination Unit at Broadband World Forum Europe

At Broadband World Forum Europe 2010, which will be held in Paris October 26-28, RAD Data Communications will premiere a solution that provides broadband access for E1/T1 and Carrier Ethernet services over bonded SHDSL.bis lines.

RAD’s LA-210 Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) DSL Network Termination Unit (NTU) is installed at customer premises to deliver EPL and EVPL Carrier Ethernet services, together with legacy TDM services, to enterprises.

“With its new pseudowire capabilities, the LA-210 is ideal for leased line replacement, which allows carriers to migrate their legacy services, such as PBX connectivity, to packet switched networks,” notes Ami Barayev, RAD’s LA-210 Product Line Manager. “This solution significantly reduces the OpEx that would otherwise have to be spent on maintaining legacy infrastructure, while continuing to supply the deterministic service quality that is required for real-time applications,” he continues. ” Such multi-generation support in a single device also translates into lower CapEx, which makes the transition to next generation communications easier and cost-effective.”

Carrier-Grade Ethernet Capabilities, TDM and Synchronization over Packet in a Single Device

Working opposite next-generation IP DSLAMs and MSAPs (multiservice access platforms),
The LA-210 features advanced service management capabilities, including Ethernet quality of service (QoS), end-to-end Ethernet OAM and service level agreements (SLA) performance monitoring. These are enhanced with standards-based SAToP and CESoPSN pseudowire emulation features. In addition, highly accurate clock recovery mechanisms ensure minimal delay and jitter for transmitting voice, video and mission critical services over packet transport.

The LA-210 can also provide near-fiber access rates of up to 100 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream over VDSL2 connections.
